Lolita Čigāne serves as a Member of Parliament (Saeima) since 2010; after reelection in 2014 she is the Chairperson of European Affairs Committee. During her previous parliamentary term Ms Cigane was a permanent member of the Latvian delegation to the Council of Europe and worked as the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. Prior to her election to the parliament Lolita Cigane worked as a civil society activist and advocacy expert with a special focus on elections, campaigns, campaign financing and anti-corruption. She was the chairperson of board of Transparency International Latvia chapter in 2008-2010. Ms. Cigane has widely worked internationally with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Transparency International (TI), Open Society Institute (OSI), as well as the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). She holds MA degree form the Central European University (CEU), Hungary and MSc degree from London School of Economics (LSE), UK.
