Kaspars Gerhards has served as Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia since November 2014. He has previously served as Latvia's Minister of Transport (2009-2010) and Minister of Economics (2007-2009). 

From 1999-2007, Mr. Gerhards was State Secretary at the Ministry of Economics. 

In addition to his public service, Mr. Gerhards has also been a board member at LDZ Cargo Ltd. and chairman of the board at the state joint stock company Elektroniskie Sakari (Electric Communications Office).
